A respectable building owner visits one of his tenants, a poor devil who has not paid the rent for a long time. The recalcitrant tenant is astonished when, instead of demanding the debt, the landlord hands him a clock. He comes back with an alarm clock, then a clock, then another and another. The tenant slowly descends into psychosis: are the clocks real? Is it a hallucination, or is he the object of Machiavellian manipulation?
